A South African alternative investment and structured private markets business focused on disciplined capital allocation, direct asset involvement and responsible investment governance.
Sentry Capital is a South African alternative investment and structured private markets business focused on disciplined capital allocation, direct asset involvement and responsible investment governance.
We provide access to selected private-market opportunities where capital is linked to identifiable assets, measurable cash flows and actively managed underlying transactions. Our focus includes structured private debt, real-asset backed investments, specialist agriculture, protein value chains, media and intellectual property finance, and other alternative strategies designed for investors seeking differentiated exposure beyond traditional listed markets.
Sentry Capital was established to bring a more hands-on, asset-focused approach to the South African private markets landscape. We are not simply an arm’s-length allocator of capital into generic alternative investment products. Our model is built around direct involvement in the underlying assets, counterparties, structures and cash-flow cycles that support each investment opportunity.
This means we focus on understanding how each investment generates return, where the risks sit, how capital is protected, how repayment is achieved and what governance controls are required throughout the investment lifecycle.
Sentry Capital operates within a compliance-led framework and places strong emphasis on governance, disclosure, mandate control, risk management and proper investor documentation.
Sentry Capital acts as a juristic representative of Al Mabroor Capital (Pty) Ltd t/a AM Capital, an authorised Financial Services Provider with FSP No. 53479, under its Category II discretionary financial services licence, where applicable and within the approved scope of appointment and supervision.
Our structures are designed with attention to applicable financial-sector obligations, including FAIS, FICA, beneficial ownership, investor suitability, disclosure, reporting and ongoing governance requirements.
Sentry Capital provides access to structured private-market opportunities through two primary routes: platform-access investment solutions and direct private-market opportunities.
Sentry Platform Investments are accessed through approved platform and nominee arrangements, including LifeCycle where applicable, and are managed within the applicable product mandate, investment parameters and Category II oversight framework where applicable.
Sentry Direct Private Markets provides access to unlisted private-market opportunities through direct participation, private placement, direct application or mandate-based structures, depending on the approved product route and investor documentation.
The distinction is important: platform access does not automatically mean a product is formally listed, and unlisted private-market access does not automatically mean the arrangement is non-discretionary. The governing mandate, product supplement, platform documents and transaction documents determine the applicable rights, obligations, risks and management authority.
Sentry Capital’s investment philosophy is based on active guardianship of investor capital.
We believe private-market investing requires more than product packaging and return targeting. It requires direct assessment of the asset, borrower or counterparty, commercial cycle, security position, repayment source, operational risks, legal structure and governance controls.
Our role includes identifying opportunities, structuring investment products, assessing asset-level risk, engaging with counterparties, reviewing cash flows, monitoring performance and maintaining disciplined oversight throughout the term of the investment.
Many alternative investment houses provide diversified exposure to similar pools of private credit, property, funds or third-party strategies. Sentry Capital is positioned differently.
We seek to build focused investment opportunities where the manager is close to the underlying asset and actively involved in the commercial and financial monitoring of the transaction.
This hands-on model gives Sentry Capital a more direct line of sight over asset performance, risk movement, cash-flow behaviour and investor protection mechanisms.
Our approach is intentionally practical and asset-led. We aim to understand the underlying commercial reality of each opportunity, not only the financial model. This includes the operating environment, funding cycle, cash conversion process, security package, counterparty profile, repayment path and risk controls required to protect investor interests.
The name Sentry reflects our role: to act as a disciplined guardian of capital.
Our purpose is to provide investors, advisers, platforms and institutions with access to alternative investment opportunities that are structured, monitored and governed with professional care.
We aim to combine specialist private-market access with active asset management, transparent documentation and compliance-led governance — creating a differentiated investment platform for investors who require accountability, oversight and a clearer connection to the underlying assets.
